Percy Maleta is a Virtu Gem Associate in Malawi. He is devoted to building a responsible, sustainable and equitable gemstone trade in Malawi. Percy Maleta participated in Virtu Gem's implementation of the World Bank Grant, EGPS (Extractives Global Programmatic Support). He is administered  Virtu CRAFT in mines in Malawi, currently, he is adding a sapphire/spinel and new aquamarine mine to the list of Malawi mines to go through the Virtu CRAFT.  Virtu CRAFT is a specialized Craft Code that includes the payment structures and systems in artisanal mines and informal work structures.  Percy, is an experienced miner and gem trader who has traveled to mines throughout Africa.  He graduated from gem cutting school in Tanzania and operates both gemstone trading and jewelry production companies in Malawi.
